Our Upper School consists of students in Grades 5 - 8. We welcome all our students with open arms and hearts. We are here to assist them as they continue in their journey to know God’s Love and Mercy for all peoples.
At our 5th Grade level Mass, we offer our students the blessing of actively participating in the Mass; in addition, our 5th graders support Hayden House, a home where children receive temporary care until suitable and safe living arrangements are made. Our students package the donations for each child and include a handwritten note.
We also invite our 6th graders to be enthusiastically partaking of the liturgy during the 6th Grade level Mass. We also honor our veterans as well as active members of the armed forces. Our 6th graders also collect items requested by army military which is then shipped overseas.
Our 7th and 8th graders are invited to attend the middle school Youth Group meetings, held monthly from October to March. There the students enjoy friendship, fun, food and faith, as well as outreach to various organizations such as the Interfaith Service and our own Christmas Fair Fundraiser. Throughout these experiences, they strengthen their bond with our high school students and many others.
Curriculum Goals for Grades 5 - 8
Grade 5
To help the children experience and understand the rites of the sacraments and so become more conscious and active participants in the Church's sacramental life.
Grade 6
To understand the Old Testament as the revelation of God in the history of a people, a revelation fulfilled in the New Testament.
Grade 7
To broaden our youth's understanding of the Gospels through a study of their formation, themes, message and literary aspects. To help our youth grow in a personal relationship with Jesus by encountering Him in the Gospels and learning to live His message.
Grade 8
To deepen our youth's knowledge of the history of the Church. To lead the students to a fuller participation in the life and mission of the Church. To help our youth understand the elements which are essential to developing positive relationships and to grow in an understanding of the moral responsibilities arising from one's relationship with Jesus.
